Cubby in Rialto, CA!
Cubby has settled into his new home. He plays, he walks with us 3 times daily (30 min. each or more) If I sit in a living room chair he sits on the coach and vise versa, he follows me everywhere I go, he loves to go for rides. At night he jumps up on our beds to make sure we are tucked in and then he gets down on his bed for a good nights rest. He is a wonderful friend, buddy, and family member. We could not be happier. Thank you to all who helped us in this process. Dick!

But my new home is really nice. There are a lot of kids in this family who are aways playing with me and taking me for walks. I get a walk in the morning (before breakfast) and one before dinner. They are teaching me new tricks like fetch, shake, and bow. I'm trying not to pull when they walk me but all the smells make it tough! Today I am a very tired puppy. We went on a long walk to this creek where I got to drink lots of water and smell new smells. I got a bath from the hose when we got back. I didn't like that too much. I think you gave me baths in a real TUB. I hope this family will figure out that baths are with WARM water and not cold. Oh well.... humans are tuff to teach. Well, here are a bunch of pictures of me. You can post some to the Chow Chow Rescue web site so other dogs will get adopted into great homes like I did -- thanks to you! Lola, the sweet puppy savaged by dogs and left for dead, has been adopted to her foster mom Lori in Richmond, CA! This is great news for Lola-Tinks, she will continue to be spoilled for a long time!!! Lori has taken her to Fearful Dog classes at the SPCA, Obedience Training and she goes to the dog park almost everyday!

Sammie was the inspiration for Sammie's Friends. Sammies Friends is a non-profit Corporation that paid for medical procedures above and beyond what the county would cover to make a dog or cat adoptable.

Sister's Journey!
Sister was a blind chow found by an elderly gentleman in a truck stop in IL. He adopted the dog after learning it would be put down. He became ill and went to live in a rest home. Sister was homeless again. Sister was then fostered in AZ until her forever home became available. That home fell through so after that she needed a home very quickly. We were full and could not take her, but we offered to help advertise her and tell people about her situation. Thanks to Sandy in Seattle, Sister was able to find a home in Alaska!

Jan 2007 - We are sad to report Tinker has just recently passed away. Our sympathies to Andy and the rest of his family for their huge loss.
Rescue drivers Andy and Tinker are pictured here at the 49er Truck Stop in Sacramento after off loading 2 Chows (Ramses and Gordo) and a GSD mix (Onyx). Earlier in the day Lisa in San Diego picked up the 3 dogs and drove them to the Grapevine near Los Angeles where Andy and Tinker met them. A huge thanks to all who helped with their rescues. We live by a creek and can't keep him out of it, then he goes crazy!!! Apollo is very leary of the water, will only get wet if he thinks his brother found something good, or worth getting wet for. Apollo is getting much better, and has fallen in love with our 15 year old daughter. He greats her whenever she comes near him, he stretches up to her and gives her kisses. Katrina wrote to us: "Daphne has turned into the most gorgeous puppy ever. People stop me on our walks and tell me so every day. They love her at the vet's office. She just got spayed yesterday and acts like nothing happened today. She is the highlight of my life. I feel so lucky to have been at Long's that Sunday in July!"

UPDATE FEB 1: Tinker, the 1 year old sweet puppy savaged by dogs, is doing very well thanks to a lot of people who made donations. She was just seen by Dr. Sussman of the Family Animal Hospital in Grass Valley, CA. He removed some stitches and a drainage tube from her neck; now it will just take a lot of time and care for Tinker's wounds to heal all the way. A week earlier Dr. Sussman removed most of her ear and a lot of dead tissue. She get's a bath twice a day with soap and scrubbing and she takes it very well. As soon as she heals a little more Tinker will go to her foster home in the Bay Area with a lady named Laurie.
  
My name is Tinker and I am very sweet. I was found on the side of the road in Martinez nearly dead. At first everyone thought I was hit by a car but after being shaved down it was clear that I had been attacked over and over again by other dogs. I was going to be euthanized but a volunteer at the shelter, Sue, noticed how sweet I was and contacted CCRSF. I have been to the vet today and yesterday and will have to go again. Right now I need someone to take care of my wounds and let me recuperate in a clean and safe environment. Jazzbo has no chow chow in him at all. Sammie's Friends and CCRSF footed the medical bills for this dog who has had a hard life. In addition to heartworm, X-rays revealed buckshot in this dog that was picked up in North San Juan. He has been adopted by Karl and is doing fine.
